The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet plans to close the KY 120 bridge over Bull Creek (mile point 10.4) in Webster County beginning Monday, November 17, to perform necessary repairs that will help preserve the structure.
The bridge is located east of Providence in the area locally known as the “S-Curve.”
A routine annual safety inspection revealed deterioration in several wooden pilings within the bridge’s substructure. With these findings, engineers determined that the repairs to the bridge needed to begin as soon as crews were available. It is necessary that the bridge be closed while this work is conducted. The repairs are essential to ensure the bridge’s long-term safety and serviceability.
The damaged pilings with be reinforced with wrap cable and rebar, then encased in concrete.
Due to the type of work required and potential weather impacts, the closure is expected to remain in place for one to two months. Motorists are advised to plan ahead and use alternate routes during this period.
There will be no marked detour.
